Postpartum Care

Beyond Birth Care for Your Family

At Pacifica, we pride ourselves on providing compassionate, caring postpartum support to new families. From the Golden Hour to your very first visit at home, we ensure you are emotionally and physically cared for as you navigate postpartum.

  • Within 48 hours of your birth, one of our professional midwives will visit you at home.

  • Each visit will include newborn check-ups, monitoring postpartum recovery, providing feeding support and lactation education, addressing any questions or concerns, and offering relevant resources.

  • Yes! At Pacifica, two in-home postpartum visits are part of your complete care package.

  • A newborn baby lying on a white towel on a digital scale, on a dark wooden table. The baby is unclothed, resting on their side, with a blanket and a green pillow nearby. There is a lamp, a potted plant, and various objects on the table.

    Golden Hour

Peaceful, dim lighting, tender moments. We hold space and honor your family’s golden hour.

Prior to leaving the birth center, we will perform a head-to-toe physical exam for your baby. Not to disturb your golden hour with baby. In the following weeks, we will see you both at the birth center for continued healing, well-being, and lactation support.

    Lactation & Feeding Support

Our goal is to offer compassionate and knowledgeable assistance to help you feel confident and comfortable in whichever way you choose to feed your baby. We carefully guide new parents through essential latching techniques, explain what to expect in the first few weeks after birth, and work closely with you to troubleshoot any challenges that may arise.

  • A happy family of three, including a man with glasses and a beard, a woman wearing a black hat and denim jacket, and a newborn baby with a white outfit, in a room with green walls and a colorful painting.

    Home Visits

At Pacifica Family Maternity Center, you don’t wait until six weeks for your first postpartum check-in. Instead, a licensed midwife will visit your family in the comfort of your home within the first 48 hours after your birth. Recover without any disruption, maintain parent-baby bonding, and honor your need for a nurturing and serene recovery period. This approach helps create a smooth and supportive transition during those very important first days.

    Community Support Groups

We are here for you, and so is the entire Pacifica Family community. We provide postpartum community groups designed specifically to offer emotional support to both new and returning families of Pacifica. These groups meet monthly in virtual sessions to ensure easy access for all families throughout the Bay Area, no matter their schedule or location.

“The care I received from the Pacifica team was so warm, informative, and personal throughout my pregnancy, labor and delivery. Their support truly empowered me to feel confident to care for my children as I entered the postpartum period.”
